Mrs Pricilla Ekwueme Eleje
Former ( retired as of December 2019) and First Director of Currency Operations, Central Bank of Nigeria
Mrs. Priscilla E. Eleje is an alumna of the prestigious Hubert H. Humphrey
Fellowship program in Banking and Management at Boston University,
Massachusetts, USA. She holds an Executive certificate in Public Leadership by John
F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, Massachusetts. Her initial
training is in psychology where she holds a Bachelor’s and Masters degree from
the University of Jos, Nigeria. She is a member of the Nigerian Psychological
association and a Certified Information System Auditor (CISA) with expertise in
Banking and Currency Information Systems.
Priscilla, was until December 2019, when she retired from the Central Bank of
Nigeria after 35 years of service, the Director Currency Operations Department. She
has expertise in Administration, Foreign Exchange, Banking Operations and in her
last 18 years, Currency Operations. She is the first female to hold that position in
the Bank’s 59 years history and the first woman to sign the Nigerian currency.
She served on many technical committees and implemented several currency
management initiatives to create value and improvement opportunities for the
Bank. She is passionate about having clean notes in circulation, assisting people
improve their wellbeing and empowering women and youths. Priscilla enjoys
counseling and mentoring. She has supported several entrepreneurial activities
and is currently engaged in setting up Talking Solutions, a behavioral/psychological
counselling services provider as her post retirement pursuit. Priscilla is happily
married and blessed with two awesome daughters.
