Who we are
Afriquetoday is an independent web TV and news platform serving the African diaspora, starting with Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia (the DMV). We cover the news, culture, business and community life that matter to African communities and the people who care about them.
Our standards
- Accuracy first. We check facts against primary sources such as official reports, public records and direct statements before we publish.
- Original reporting and rewriting. Every article is written in our own words. When we rely on another outlet, report or organization, we credit it and link to it clearly in the article.
- Clear sourcing. Statistics and quotes name their source. We say when a figure comes from an estimate or a survey.
- Fairness. We present facts without stereotypes and respect the dignity of every community we cover.
- Independence. Advertising or partnerships never decide what we report. Sponsored or promotional content is always labeled as such.
- Privacy. We do not publish private personal information without consent, unless there is a clear public interest.
Languages
We publish in French and English. Articles may be translated, and the translation is always checked against the original.
Events and community announcements
When we share an event, we credit the organizers and, where possible, link to their official page. We do not charge to be listed in our news coverage.
Corrections
If we make a mistake, we correct it quickly and openly. See our Corrections Policy.
