Rodrigue Yonga, an education expert with a Master’s in Education (MA) and a specialization in International Education (EDS), is a successful foreign-language teacher with more than 17 years of classroom experience. His reputation is built on an exceptional combination of reliability and attention to detail, as well as a proven ability to thrive in diverse educational environments, adapting his methods to the individual needs of students.
Yonga is a native French speaker, fully bilingual in English and Spanish. His passion for applying technology in the classroom and for playful, creative learning experiences allows him to spark fascination, nurture curiosity and help students fall in love with learning. His ability to build trust with students and faculty is an essential strength of his teaching practice.
As an education consultant since November 2020, Yonga collaborates with Fiveable, a 21st-century social learning network that helps build AP students’ confidence, content knowledge and technical skills through academic and social empowerment.
As a French and Spanish teacher at Azusa High School since 2019, Yonga works in an environment where the Hispanic population is predominant. He teaches all levels of French, including the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program and Advanced Placement (AP). His experience and command of Spanish allow him to improve communication with students and parents.
Previously, Yonga taught at Redondo Union High School in Redondo Beach, California, where he enriched the school’s foreign language program by coordinating the French exchange program and using authentic multimedia materials to engage students and help them develop strategies to apply their language skills.
Before that, he served as the only French teacher at Ronald E. McNair High School in Lodi, California, where he taught French to first-, second- and third-year classes. He founded the school’s first French club and organized trips and special events to enrich students’ experience.
His career began as a student teacher at Fremont High School in Los Angeles, where he taught French to first-, second- and third-year classes and earned his teaching credential. Before that, he was a substitute teacher in Culver City, California, where he adapted his teaching techniques to work with students from kindergarten through 12th grade in a variety of subjects.
As a student mentor and tutor, Yonga has helped students of all levels in various subjects, with a particular focus on empowering students from disadvantaged neighborhoods of Los Angeles.
His academic background includes a bachelor’s degree in Spanish with a specialization in Hispanic and Spanish-American languages and civilizations from the University of Yaoundé I, a master’s degree in education from National University in Los Angeles, and a specialization in international education from Northcentral University in Prescott, Arizona.
